There's nothin' like a Krystal Burger - or Krystal Burger Cake!

The Krystal Company definitely knows how to make a typical General Manager’s conference more than just a conference. And it starts by calling in a caterer who knows a little something about the Famous Krystal Burger.

Last week, The Krystal Company held one of its General Manager’s conferences in Nashville, TN where the employees were greeted with a fun food surprise – A Large Krystal Burger Cake! Created by local Nashville caterer Peggy Pickens from “Dining-In Catering,” the Krystal cake was a combination of white and chocolate-flavored cake layered and iced to resemble a single Krystal Burger in it’s iconic box packaging with a few Krystal fries on the side. As you can see by the picture on the right, Ms. Pickens did a mighty fine job of recreating a life-like Krystal Burger – only sweeter.

Needless to say, everyone who attended the conference was in awe of the cake’s incredible detail and great taste. It’s probably the only alternative to a Krystal Burger that you could get these folks to even try!

Which Krystal MilkQuake flavor is your favorite? We vote Chocolate for the classics.

We can all agree that Krystal’s creamy MilkQuakes made with real, premium ice cream, Monin syrups and 100% pure can sugar are D – licious. However, with so many great-tasting flavors, we might not all agree on which one is the best. But that’s what the polls are for!

Boxes for the 2009 Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame Inductees hit restaurants this March!

Since December of 2009 when the new class of Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame inductees was introduced, we’ve kept you updated on their Krystal experiences with links to news articles and highlights of photos and videos from the various induction ceremonies. We’ve also given you a sneak peak of the legendary Krystal Hamburger Boxes, which feature the photos and stories of each Hall of Famer. Now, we’re excited to announce that the new Hamburger Boxes will be available in restaurants starting this month – March 2010.

Soon, Krystal Lovers can visit all of the company’s 385 restaurants across the South to eat their favorite Krystal or Cheese Krystal out of the new packaging. Each box will include an illustration of the Hall of Famer, a quote that describes his or her passion for Krystal as well as personal facts such as the inductee’s hometown and favorite Krystal meal.

And because of the great response Krystal had from its Facebook Fans and Twitter Followers when asked to hear guests’ Krystal stories for the Hall of Fame, we hope to see Krystal Lovers continue this engagement online as the boxes roll out in restaurants. You can let us know when you get a Hall of Famer’s box at the drive thru or even share your own personal story for the 2010 Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame. And don’t forget to include photos and video with your submissions!

How many Krystal Burgers can you eat in 94 seconds?

It’s not time for the annual Krystal Square Off yet, but if you live in the Tampa Bay area then you won’t want to miss the chance to get your Square Off fix at the 94-second Krystal Burger Eating Contest taking place this Sunday, March 7 from noon – 2 p.m. at the new Bradenton, FL Krystal on 3108 First Street West.

That’s right. Krystal Lovers from across the Tampa Bay area will go head-to-head for 94 seconds straight to see who can put down the most Krystal Burgers and win a $100 Krystal Gift Card and two tickets to WILD 94.1’s Wildsplash concert.

The competition is free and open to all Krystal Lovers who arrive at the Bradenton Krystal Restaurant before the event time and who are at least 18 years of age with a picture ID. And according to Weather.com, the forecast is showing mostly sunny skies with a high of 68 degrees, so gather up all your friends and head on over this weekend for a Sunday Funday with fellow Krystal fans.

There is nothin' like the taste of a Krystal Burger served hot off the grill!

If you’re familiar with Krystal, then you might have also heard of the fast food eatery White Castle. And although Krystal is a Southern brand and White Castle is located primarily in the Northeast, the two burger joints are frequently compared to one another because of their small, square-shaped menu items. Thanks to all the Krystal guests who've helped make Krystal a southern tradition since 1932.

As the saying goes, “There’s a first time for everything,” and for Krystal Lovers in the South that something is eating at Krystal for the very first time. So Krystal asked its online communities to share tales of some of their best first experiences and memories with the brand. Krystal heard stories ranging from one guest who thought the Krystal Burger’s small, square shape was made specially just to fit in his hands as a boy to another Krystal Lover who shared the Krystal tradition with his grandfather for many years.

“My first experience with Krystal was back in the 1960’s. We lived in Murfreesboro, TN and the nearest Krystal was in Nashville. So a few times during the year, we would go to Nashville, to visit the stamp store and then to Krystal for lunch. It was always a special treat for us. And for those who are wondering what the stamp store was, you would save stamps you would get from grocery shopping and go spend them on really nice items.”

“I remember distinctly when I was a wee lad and the family came “to town” for some shopping and they stopped at a Krystals and I was amazed that they had hamburgers made especially for me! They fit right into my hands and were OH so yummy and I haven’t looked back since. Rock on with your bad selves!”

“The first time I remember eating Krystals was on a family vacation to Florida when I was about 10 years old. My parents would clip coupons from the paper, you could get 10 Krystals for $2.50 at the time. We always looked forward to it, couldn’t get them where we lived back then! Now I am lucky enough to have a Krystals about 4 minutes away. ”

Hapeville, Ga. around 1965. My grandfather used to take me and my sister there when we visited . We sat on the stools at the counter and were served Krystals and fries on glass plates. We were taken there at an earlier age, but I can only remember from around 5 years old. My granddad died in 1967, but I will/ have always treasure the memories we had at Krystal. It was “our spot”. In 2004 we took our granddaughter to Krystals for the first time. She was hooked. We drive an hour and a half to get our Krystal fix at least once a month!!

“I was six years old when I enjoyed my first of many Krystals. My Grandfather worked 3rd shift, his shift ended at 6:00 AM. My brother, sister and I were eating breakfast before going to school. My Grandfather arrived and inside his jacket was a Sack Full of Krystals… That was a Great 1st Graders school lunch…. Chattanooga, TN 1961… ( Pap Paw, George Pearson is my Favorite Grandfather)

“When I was young, I would often spend the weekend at my grandfather’s and most Friday nights we could be found sitting in his favorite booth eating chili and Krystals. He was not only known by all, but expected every night as was I every weekend.
I am now past 40 and my grandfather has been gone for 10+ years. The Krystal that we went to in Columbus, GA is gone. There are others but there will never be another like the one we always called “Granddaddy’s Krystal”.

Beating out six of the seven answer options, the Brownie holds first place with 33.8% of fan votes with it’s counterpart, the Cookie Crumbled Brownie, stealing second with 22.6% of the votes. We think it’s safe to say that there are some serious brownie lovers living in Krystal country.

Enjoy Hot Breakfast Month with Krystal's Scramblers, Plate Breakfasts, Sandwiches and more!

February isn’t just about the month of love or President’s Day, it’s also about the first and most important meal of the day – Breakfast. Not to be confused with regular Breakfast month, national “HOT Breakfast Month” is in a whole category of its own. And, we’re not quite sure how this holiday was created, but what we can be sure of is that we’ll be celebrating it for the next few weeks with many a trips to Krystal.

We plan to start off light with the Low-Carb Scrambler featuring loads of protein with two freshly scrambled eggs, a slice of American cheese and a choice of Krystal’s savory Jimmy Dean sausage patties or a generous layer of crispy Smithfield bacon. Then, we’ll work our way up to the great tasting Sausage Gravy Scrambler that combines two eggs with a layer of rich, sausage Sawmill gravy and topped with a hot, buttery biscuit. Finally, we’ll finish our Scrambler experience with sweetest one of all – the Pancake Scrambler complete with scrambled eggs, a perfectly-seasoned Jimmy Dean sausage patty and a layer of fluffy buttermilk pancakes topped with rich, Maple syrup.

Next, we’ll tackle the breakfast sandwich category beginning with the classic Krystal Sunriser featuring a savory Jimmy Dean sausage patty, fluffy scrambled eggs and a slice of melted American cheese served on Krystal’s famous small, square bun. We’ll also enjoy the Bacon, Egg & Cheese; Sausage, Egg & Cheese and Chik Biscuits along with the bacon and sausage Breakfast Toast Sandwiches – one for every day of the week.

We’ll finish up with Krystal’s two plate breakfasts. The first being Krystal’s Express Breakfast made for guests-on-the-go, which comes with scrambled eggs, homemade grits, two slices of buttery toast and your choice of crispy strips of Smithfield bacon or Jimmy Dean sausage patties. The second being Krystal’s biggest breakfast ever, The Big Stack Breakfast, which includes a full plate loaded with fresh scrambled eggs, two Jimmy Dean sausage patties, two strips of crispy Smithfield bacon and a hot, heaping stack of three buttermilk pancakes topped with Maple syrup.

The only thing that could top it all off is an order of Sweet Bites. Need we say more?
