• Here’s some irony… Peyton Manning’s dad, NFL quarterback Archie Manning, made his debut in 1971 for the New Orleans Saints.
• Entertainment for Super Bowl XLIV includes: Queen Latifah’s rendition of “America The Beautiful,” Carrie Underwood singing the National Anthem and The Who at halftime.
• The Who are the first band known for destroying their instruments at the end of a live show and were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990.
• It’s estimated that 6 percent of Americans will call in sick or report to work late on the Monday after Super Bowl XLIV.
• Saints running back Reggie Bush’s top speed in the 40-yard dash is 18.7 mph.
• Because local Indianapolis school bus drivers had a tough time getting to work at 5:30 a.m. after The Colts’ last Super Bowl game, public schools and bus activity will commence one hour later on Monday, February 8, 2010. However, Catholic schools in Indianapolis will have the entire day off in honor of the Super Bowl XLIV.
• In a related finding, New Orleans Parish Civil District Court Judge Michael Bagneris ordered a Feb. 1 jury trial delay in light of the New Orlean’s Saints historic trip to the 2010 Super Bowl. His statement read, “The court takes judicial notice that Saintsmania permeates the city of New Orleans…”
• The most potato chips consumed on Super Bowl Sunday are said to be done by the states of New Mexico and Virginia.
• The estimated cost to South Florida for hosting Super Bowl XLIV, including increased police presence, clean-up, etc. will total $8 million.
• The estimated benefit to South Florida, as measured by additional revenue to hotels, restaurants, and other spending will total $353 million
• The average ticket price for Super Bowl XLIV will be between $500 – $1,000.

Join Krystal Lovers across the South on Feb. 7 as we all root for the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV!

Because Krystal loves to give back to its guests for all of their continued support and loyalty to the brand, the fast food icon promised fans that the company would in turn root for its Krystal Lovers’ football team of choice in the 2010 Super Bowl game. To do so, Krystal turned to its online communities on Facebook and Twitter.

All week long, Krystal guests spoke out with great excitement about who they want to win. 2009 Krystal Hall of Famer Kris Underwood exclaimed, “Indianapolis Colts! GO BLUE!!” Many other Krystal Lovers including Adam Johnson and Tyler Peterson stated, “SAINTS! Who Dat!”

But after a great response – hearing from more than 100 Krystal Fans, the clear winner is… THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS!

Now we do realize that this might not come as that big of a surprise, considering there are more Krystal Lovers in the South than in the Midwest. However, there are Krystal Lovers like Chad Littleton who totally go against that train of thought as you can see with his response here, “Colts! This Falcons fan will never pull for the Saints.”

Either way, what we can tell you with absolute certainty is that on February 7th at 7:20 p.m. EST, we here at Krystalist along with the entire Krystal Team and all of our Krystal Lovers across the South will be pulling for the Saints. Now let us hear you say, “WHO DAT!”

After a two-week debut in Krystal restaurants across the South, the new Krystal Chik flavors are quickly becoming a fan favorite. It seems Krystal Lovers can’t get enough of the crispy, 100% all-white, whole chicken breast filet served on a steamy, soft bun. But which “Pick Your Chik” flavor currently reigns supreme, you ask?

Drum roll please…. The Fiery Buffalo!

With 43% of the votes, the Fiery Buffalo currently leads the pack. Only 8 points behind is Savory Butter with 35%, leaving Sweet BBQ in last with 22%.

A hungry group of new and veteran Krystal Lovers all take a bite of their Krystal Burgers at once!

We think most Krystal Lovers would agree that when you get a Krystal craving, you want to satisfy it right then and there. And apparently this school of thought is no exception to Krystal Lover and Facebook Fan Valorie Spencer of the Palm Harbor, Fla. area.

On this fine Friday afternoon, Spencer was home with her kids and a few of their friends who had the day off from school, when they all decided it was time for Spencer to deliver on a long-time promise: a road trip to Krystal. With the nearest Krystal restaurant located 45 minutes away in Tampa, it was a rare treat for the group. According to Spencer, “Three of the boys had never eaten a Krystal before and in fact, two of them had only experienced White Castle (frozen) at my house once before. They were really excited about the trip to a genuine Krystal location.”

Spencer continued, “The kids now want to make the trip a regular thing.” And how could we blame them! The group consumed a total of 40 Krystal Burgers, an order of chili cheese fries and a number of MilkQuakes. They also left with an additional 24 Burgers – a full Steamer Pack – and stopped at a friends house to slide a few to a fellow friend who wasn’t able to make the trek. I guess you could say that Spencer, with the help of her daughter, is like the Santa Claus of Krystal.

For this dedication and loyalty to the Krystal brand, we want to say thank you and show our appreciation with a little feature here on Krystalist. Situated at 6663 Caroline St. (Hwy. 90), the sleek and spacious eatery will showcase a 26-seat dining area, free Wi-Fi internet access and an expanded menu complete with a variety of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options that are bound to keep you coming back for more.

A few of those signature items include: the Krystal Hamburger, Krystal Chik and Krystal Pup. The Krystal menu will also feature a number of innovative and unique offerings such as Krystal’s newest meal variety, the “Pick Your Chik” deal with your choice of a Fiery Buffalo, Sweet BBQ or Savory Butter flavored Chik; The Krystal Blitz, an energy drink that’s served “Frozen” or “On The Rocks” in a great-tasting Lemon Berry flavor; a line of MilkQuakes, made with premium, all-natural ingredients; Krystal Freezes, the company’s new frozen slush drink made from pure-cane sugar and fruit flavorings; and Sweet Bites, Krystal’s anytime dessert snack available in a 6 or 12-count.

Bob and Beverly Balch are Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame Inductees #83

As the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end,” which is the case for the 2009 Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies. The 10th and final inductees, Bob and Beverly Balch, celebrated their Krystal story and new honor last Friday in St. Augustine, Fla.

Friends and family were gathered around to hear the couple tell their tale – not of how many burgers they’ve eaten, but of a match made at Krystal. The story goes back five decades and explains how Bob, then a young Naval cadet, was able to woo Beverly over to his car that was parked in the Krystal parking lot in Mobile, Ala. Now 50 years and eight grandkids later, they are still enjoying a happy marriage and thank Krystal for the match-making help.

At their induction ceremony, Krystal’s executive team recognized the Balches with a life-size illustration of their very own Krystal Hamburger box, a Krystal plaque to be hung in the St. Augustine restaurant for all of eternity and a complimentary meal for the couple’s friends and family. Local Krystal Restaurant and Franchise Owner Mr. Brad Bartlett have partnered with Houston-area community organizations and schools to help sponsor The “Diamond in the Rough” 2010 Block Party this Saturday, Jan. 23 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. CST at the Krystal Burger back parking lot located at 1623 FM 1960 W in Houston.

The Block Party is a community outreach event for youths in the North Houston area and will feature a free concert, student discounts including 2 for $1 Krystal Burgers as well as $1 off any Krystal Combo and much more!
