Photo Spotlight: Krystal Fans Travel To Satisfy Krystal Craving

A hungry group all take a bite of their Krystal Burgers at once!

A hungry group of new and veteran Krystal Lovers all take a bite of their Krystal Burgers at once!

We think most Krystal Lovers would agree that when you get a Krystal craving, you want to satisfy it right then and there. And apparently this school of thought is no exception to Krystal Lover and Facebook Fan Valorie Spencer of the Palm Harbor, Fla. area.

On this fine Friday afternoon, Spencer was home with her kids and a few of their friends who had the day off from school, when they all decided it was time for Spencer to deliver on a long-time promise: a road trip to Krystal. With the nearest Krystal restaurant located 45 minutes away in Tampa, it was a rare treat for the group. According to Spencer, “Three of the boys had never eaten a Krystal before and in fact, two of them had only experienced White Castle (frozen) at my house once before. They were really excited about the trip to a genuine Krystal location.”

Spencer continued, “The kids now want to make the trip a regular thing.” And how could we blame them! The group consumed a total of 40 Krystal Burgers, an order of chili cheese fries and a number of MilkQuakes. They also left with an additional 24 Burgers – a full Steamer Pack – and stopped at a friends house to slide a few to a fellow friend who wasn’t able to make the trek. I guess you could say that Spencer, with the help of her daughter, is like the Santa Claus of Krystal.

For this dedication and loyalty to the Krystal brand, we want to say thank you and show our appreciation with a little feature here on Krystalist. To see photos of the Spencer family and friends enjoying their Krystal Burgers, see below. It looks like one young gentleman might even have a future in the art of Krystal Box Stacking.

Flickr Photo Spotlight: Rainbow Leads to Krystal

Even the rainbow gods crave Krystal every now and then.

Even the rainbow gods crave Krystal every now and then.

What’s better than a pot full of gold at the end of the rainbow? How about the promise of the world’s best burgers at the very next exit?

Check out this prophetic photo that Robert Kolsch took while heading down I-95. Even Mother Nature can’t resist how delicious a little Krystal action would be right now, and neither should you. Take the hint, follow the rainbow and get your grub on with a tasty Cheese Krystal, Corn Pup or Krystal Chik.

Besides, how are you going to lift a real pot of gold into your car anyway?

Blog Spotlight: The Tower of Krystals

A close up of The Tower of Krystals - just look at the precise alignment. Now that's art! Most people are familiar with the phrase, “If you build it, they will come.” However, we’re not talking about baseball. Oh yea, you guessed it. We’re talking about Krystal, or better yet, The Tower of Krystals.

Recently featured on Rambling’s blog and Twitter page (@rambling1on), the tale of The Tower of Krystals began with a family outing to Krystal where one of the children used all 20 empty Krystal boxes to create his own Krystal masterpiece. And in the words of Rambling, “Move over, Frank Lloyd Wright. Here’s the new standard in modern architecture… and it’s environmentally friendly as well as quite tasty!”

Of course, this isn’t the first we’ve heard of Krystal Lovers who dabble in Krystal Box Stacking, or what we like to call “Krystal Box Art,” but it’s fun to see what new Krystal constructions get made. Visit the following links to see some of the various box art highlights on Krystalist and vote for your favorite by posting a quick comment:

And if your creative juices are flowing, try stacking the baskets from Krystal’s new $5 Value Meal or one of the Big Angus Burger Basket Meals. We think it’s a little more challenging, but the tasty Double Bacon & Cheese BA makes for a great payoff.

Facebook Spotlight: Krystal Birthday Kake

A birthday cake has never looked so good! The Krystal Birthday Kake on Facebook – does it get any better than that? An innovative cake concept and artful Krystal creation made available instantly for all Krystal Lovers to see, including us. And, this is why we love Facebook!

First off, we want to thank Brian Corey Adams for sharing the Krystal Kake images and second we want to say kudos to the chef for coming up with the brilliant idea to put all the frosting in the middle, leaving the cake itself to serve as the square Krystal bun. Genius! We saw that it even had green frosting “pickles” in the center.

The famous Krystal packaging just completes the presentation. We give it a 10 out of 10 – a score that doesn’t come often from our team of tough Krystal critics.

If you agree, give Adams a “Thumbs Up” by clicking here. And while you’re visiting The Official Krystal Lover Community, click on the “Events” tab to RSVP for The Krystal Giveaway Show on May 27 where we’ll be giving away more than $1,500 in Krystal prizes!

UPDATE: As Brian points out in the comments, all credit for the great idea goes to his wife Cynthia Adams and his friend, Lisa Voss.

TwitPic Spotlight: Krystal Box Stacking

It's not just Krystal Box Stacking - It's Krystal Box Art!Remember any of our past posts about the art of Krystal Box Stacking? Fellow Tweep, @SayonaraMrOtaku, knows what we’re talking about. She’s even taking part in the sport, just like past Hall of Famers Gator Harrison and Robert, Joey and Steven Clark.

Check out this TwitPic she recently posted, which even includes some of the latest famous Krystal Hall of Fame boxes. We think this masterpiece might top another Krystal box creation sent to us via YouTube.com back in February. Watch the video here and tell us which Krystal Art Piece you like better.

Up next: Krystal BASKET Stacking. With the new Big Burger Basket and Southern Chik’n Tenders Basket Meals out in restaurants now, Krystal Lovers can start collecting. We’re not sure what to expect, but we do know that it won’t take long for guests to start getting creative.

TwitPic Spotlight: Krystal At Krystal

Krystal Lover and fellow tweep, @Krysnix, sent this TwitPic our way. Krystal at Krystal. Gotta love it. We here at Krystalist share a special fondness with people named Krystal who love to eat Krystal. Okay, that was a lot of Krystal in one sentence. But seriously, you share a TwitPic and we share the love right back.

Just take a look at Krystal’s twitter page (@Krysnix), where last week she posted a photo of herself in front of a Krystal restaurant in New Orleans. It’s a little dark, but no one can mistake those neon lights. I’m sure if we moved the car, Krystal’s famous “hot-off-the-grill” sign would be flashing as well. I hear stomachs growling!

Don’t make us say it again – you know we love it when you send anything Krystal related our way. So get to it!

Guess Where This Krystal Photo Was Taken

Hooked on Krystal - Photo courtesy of Jose GonzalezWe love checking out Flickr for Krystal photos, and this fisheye lens shot taken by Jose Gonzalez really ‘hooked’ our eyes the other day.

The lens not only gives it a cool, wide-angle, depth of field but really captures so many details at the table and restaurant, making it fun to let your eyes wander the image to see what you can discover. Some things we noticed were the other lens on the table, the “Snack the Gap” on the drink cup, the cashier behind the counter who seems to notice she’s in the photo and the Krystal Pups (we think) container to the right.

We tried to guess which Krystal restaurant this is from just looking at the photo. At first we thought it was taken at the Krystal in North Houston on FM 1960 because of the newspaper article, but it’s not. But there are some clues to tell you where it’s located. See if you can figure it out, and post your guess in the comments section. For a larger, higher res version, click here.

For more photos by Gonzalez visit his Flickr photostream here.

Flickr Photo Spotlight: Hauling 72 Krystals From Tennessee To Iowa

We come across a lot of great Krystal-related photos on the photo sharing site Flickr, like the feast photo by Curt McAdams and “Nothing But Blue Skies and Krystal” by Brian Hart. And of course, there are the photo series we post, like our Holiday MilkQuake one and the hundreds of shots from Krystal Square Off V.

Most recently we noticed the photo to the right of a Steamer Pack with the intriguing caption:

“What did they think when the boys walked in and ordered 72 Krystals? Thanks for hauling these to Iowa from Tennessee!”

From Iowa to Tennessee? 72? We had to ask what the story was…did they pack them on dry ice? And who are “the boys?”

Well, the person behind the photo, Flickr user “vanhookc,” got back to us with the following account:

“Do you just love the fact that our boys stopped at the last Krystal’s restaurant before crossing over into Kentucky and brought us cases of Krystals. The store workers were a bit surprised but accomodated! We had great eating around Thanksgiving! Gives that ole turkey a real rival.

Wonder if I have any of those Krystals left in the freezer. Pretty good about dropping them in the microwave with a few drops of water on the meat side and cooking for 1/2 minute!”

And according to vanhookc, they didn’t use dry ice. “Just the tempting smell of three cases of these in their car,” she explained.

Sounds like a Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame story in the making.

Check out vanhookc’s photostream on Flickr here.

Photo Friday: Lol Krystal Cat

We haven’t posted a Friday photo in quite some time, so we thought we’d take a break from competitive eating and the Olympics today to do so – considering it is Friday and all.

And while we’re not quite sure how we feel about the popular fad of taking photos of cats (and other creatures) either in, on or underneath random objects, sites like Icanhascheezburger and Cuteoverload have made Lolcats (as they are sometimes called) hugely popular. (I mean, is it really THAT funny and cute? Cats are not FUNNY animals people. Maybe it’s because the words are misspelled?)

Either way, it was hard to ignore this photo we stumbled across of a cat named Pop-Tart sitting in a Krystal Chik box.

We suppose we should come up with a funny, misspelled caption for him – maybe something like, “Don’t eat mah Mizder.  I’z not eh Krystal Chik, I’z eh Krystal Cat.” Or something like that.

If you can think of something better, send it our way.

Photo Friday: Lindsay Lohan A Fast Food Employee

Lindsay Lohan

Here’s an interesting Friday photo – it’s Lindsay Lohan working as a fast food employee.

No, the Mean Girls star hasn’t given up (or been forced out of) Hollywood yet, she’s just on the set of Ugly Betty where she is set to appear in five episodes as Kimberly, Betty’s nemesis.

Perhaps the fast food role can help revive her career.  If it doesn’t work, maybe she could appear in our next Krystal commercial – it helped Samuel L. Jackson jump onto the scene back in the day.
