This is why we love our great nation – there’s an official day or month dedicated to almost every different American food favorite. Just as National Hamburger Month ends, National Donut Day begins.

That’s right, National Donut Day is on the first Friday of June each year, which is today. According to Wikipedia, “The holiday celebrates the doughnut (a.k.a “donut”) — an edible, ring-shaped piece of dough which is deep-fried and sweetened.” Of course, the first thing we thought of after reading that statement was, “What about the holes?” Or better yet, “Hello Sweet Bites!”

If you’re having a hard time humming “Jingle Bells” or “Deck the Halls” just yet (despite shopping amongst all the holiday decorations already adorning your local department store) you may find that you’ll change your Scrooge-like tune after today.
