Krystal's Chik 'N Bites are crispy and perfectly seasoned, making them the perfect snack option.

We know everyone is familiar with the Famous Krystal Burger, Krystal Chiks, Pups, MilkQuakes and Freezes, but what about menu items like Chik ‘N Bites, the side salad and the B.A. Burger?

Well, that’s why we’re going to start a new series of post around here where we feature and review some of the lesser known products at Krystal.

Now we know there are many Krystal connoisseurs out there who are familiar with the ins and outs of the entire Krystal menu and tend to mix things up at each visit.  And we see emails all the time from folks raving about products such as the Lemon Ice Box Pie or the Chili Cheese Fries, but what about the rest of us that are stuck in a rut and tend to order the same Krystal combo meal each and every time?

What are we missing out on?

Well, that’s what this series is for.  We’re going to order up a different product here and there, then we’ll post our photos and our review for your reading pleasure.

So, let’s not waste anytime.

Our first featured product: Krystal Chik ‘N Bites.

Never having tried the Chik ‘N Bites before (but a huge fan of most chicken nugget items in general), we decided to start our series out with this snack option.

Served in a traditional french fry holder, these bite-sized chicken nuggets are deliciously crispy and juicy.  The breading, which is thick, has a zesty, peppery flavoring that is perfectly seasoned - not bland in the least.  The chicken is all white meat and has been cooked to perfection, leaving it juicy and not dry.

Smaller in size, these are definitely a great option for those looking for an afternoon or late night snack. They’d also make for a great lighter lunch option.

Priced at $1.49 at our local Krystal (keep in mind, prices may vary) Chik ‘N Bites are also a great children’s menu alternative, one that will have you stealing bites when your kid isn’t looking.

Will we order it again? Yes, but we don’t think it will replace our standard order of a Number #1 Combo with Cheese.  We’ll just keep it in mind the next time we want something a little less filling.

Insider Tip: Ask for a packet of ranch dressing to dip your Chik ‘N Bites in.  It adds an extra dimension of flavor that makes the bite-sized chicken even more delicious.

“That’s sooooo good.”

“I can’t believe how delicious that is.”

“Man, it really does taste just like pumpkin pie!”

“Yeah, but much better - I don’t even like pumpkin pie and I love this!”

Those were just a few of the comments my coworkers made after tasting Krystal’s new Pumpkin Pie MilkQuake after lunch.

And while yes, we are all paid to help promote Krystal in a positive light, none of the above statements are exaggerated in the least.

Anyone that has tasted this new MilkQuake absolutely loves it, and how can you not?  Premium vanilla ice cream is mixed with gourmet pumpkin flavoring and graham cracker crumbles to make this deliciously cool autumnal treat.  Oh, and don’t forget the whipped cream on top.

Really, what’s not to love about this new shake?  Now don’t give me the “but I don’t like Pumpkin Pie speech” (I’m looking at you Krystalist Charles).  I, too, detest Pumpkin Pie, but this MilkQuake FINALLY gives me the opportunity to jump on the oh-it’s-officially-fall-now-because-I-can-order-a-pumpkin-flavored-drink bandwagon.  And, I must say, it feels (and tastes) really good.

Seriously, I’m always left frustrated this time of year as I so desperately want to love pumpkin and everything pumpkin related.  Really, it’s as if I can only officially celebrate my favorite season if I can partake in the pumpkin drink trend.  And now, thanks to this new MilkQuake, I can.  Plus, I won’t waste my money buying these seasonal drinks and then throwing them away after taking just two sips because “gaaah, I forgot I hate pumpkin!”

And as if all of this isn’t reason enough to convince you to run out to your nearest Krystal to order up what I’m officially deeming the “most delicious of all the MilkQuake flavors - ever,” then do it out of appreciation.  Yes, appreciation folks. For the fact that Krystal waited until it was seasonally appropriate to introduce this new drink - unlike another beverage company (who shall remain nameless) that introduced a Pumpkin Spice Latte in early September to help “warm us up.”  Um, hello - the first day of fall wasn’t until September 22, and in case they haven’t noticed, it’s still hot outside here in the South!  I don’t know about you, but I’m warm enough.

So really, why not usher in October tomorrow with a Pumpkin Spice MilkQuake from Krystal?  Not only is it delicious, but I bet you’ll notice the leaves changing a little in color and the air feeling a bit more brisk with each and every sip.

Abraham Lincoln will buy you 3 Krystals, 2 Chili-Cheese Pups, your choice of a side and a drink. What a nice guy.

Abraham Lincoln won’t get you much in the way of gas or groceries these days, but at Krystal, a $5 bill will still go a long way.

In fact, Krystal has decided to stretch that 5 bucks so far that now you can get 7 menu items for only $5.

That’s right, Krystal has rearranged its $5 for 5 combo meal so that it’s more like $5 for 7.

Here’s what the meal includes:  3 Krystal burgers, 2 Chili-Cheese Pups, your choice of a side (so salad or fries or Lemon Ice Box Pie) and a beverage.

And even though math’s not our specialty (I mean seriously, we still count on our fingers to add and sing the multiplication songs we learned in fourth grade to multiply),  even we understand the value of this combo meal.

So while he may not get you more than a gallon of gas or a gallon of milk, Mr. Lincoln will get you a filling and delicious meal at Krystal.  That’s why we’d suggest letting good ol’ Abe take you to lunch today.

The Bacon, Egg and Cheese Toaster Sandwich is our personal favorite, and now you can get it with Kryspers and a coffee for only $3.

Not to long ago we told you about our indecisiveness when it comes to ordering breakfast sandwiches on toast vs on a biscuit.

Well, Krystal has made that decision a little easier for us with the introduction of the $3 Breakfast Toaster Combo.

The new combo meal includes your choice of a Bacon, Egg and Cheese or Sausage, Egg and Cheese Toaster Sandwich, Kryspers Hashbrowns and a coffee - all for only $3.00.

We had the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Toaster just this morning and can’t get over how home cooked this sandwich taste.  The eggs are perfectly fluffy, the bacon is extra crispy and the toast taste so home-cooked, you’ll swear you forgot to unplug your toaster.  And don’t forget about the Krystpers, which are perfectly crunchy and not too greasy.

If you’re a breakfast eater, we highly recommend the new Toaster Combo.  And at only $3.00, it’s a much better value for your wallet and your stomach than that grande beverage with an extra shot and no whip that you typically substitute for breakfast - not to mention it’s way easier to order.

Tropical flavors make the new Island Punch Krystal Freeze the perfect beverage for the dog days of summer.

Beginning today, two new flavors will be available for Krystal Freeze lovers to enjoy - Island Punch and Purple Fusion.

As the name implies, Island Punch is a delicious blend of tropical fruit flavors. A perfect indulgence for the dog days of summer, the frozen beverage offers up a fruity taste that’s not too sweet.  This, of course, is thanks to the fact that it’s made with premium flavorings containing pure cane sugar.

The Purple Fusion Krystal Freeze is a mixture of pear flavors. It's also our new favorite.

The second flavor, Purple Fusion, isn’t quite as obvious in the name department, but we think it may be the best Krystal Freeze flavor to date.  The first time we tasted it, we couldn’t quite put our finger on the flavors but the second time around (and after asking our chef in the Krystal Test Kitchen) we found out that it’s actually a fusion of pear flavors - namely desert pear.  The taste is clean, crisp and decidedly refreshing.  If you liked the Pomegranate flavor, our bet is Purple Fusion will become your new favorite.

So go out and try the new flavors today.  Oh, and if you’re a die-hard Banana Freeze or Strawberry Freeze (or Banana-Strawberry Freeze) fan, don’t worry - those flavors will be available for the rest of the year.

Krystal's Key Lime Pie MilkQuake

First up is the Key Lime Pie MilkQuake. Deliciously thick, creamy and tart, this MilkQuake taste just like someone poured a piece of Key Lime Pie into a cup, which makes sense considering it’s made using premium vanilla ice cream, gourmet key lime flavoring and real graham cracker crumbs.

The second flavor is the appropriately titled Triple Chocolate Dream. Made with chocolate ice cream, Oreo cookies and topped with chocolate whipped cream, this MilkQuake is the perfect indulgence for lovers of all things sweet and chocolate.

And just in case having these two new flavors to choose from isn’t enough, Krystal has decided to keep the Banana Pudding MilkQuake on the menu. Originally the shake was only available through the end of summer, but due to its popularity, it will now be available year-round.

So now that you’ve got more MilkQuake choices than you can shake a stick at, good luck deciding which flavor to try first.

This morning we chose toast, and it was delicious.

One of our favorite breakfast menu items is a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.

However at Krystal, we have the option of putting those fixings on toast or a biscuit - which always turns into a major issue for us in the drive-thru as we can’t decide which we prefer.

The Banana Pudding MilkQuake will be available for the rest of the summer.

The shake was originally going to be a limited time offer, set to expire in late July when two new flavors will be added to the line up; however, the drink has been so popular with Krystal Lovers, the company has decided to keep the Banana Pudding deliciousness on the menu for the rest of the summer.

This is the best news we’ve heard all day, as it’s the office favorite. Oh, and check back soon to learn the flavors of the two new MilkQuakes you’ll soon be able to order.

Krystal's new Banana and Strawberry Freeze

The new flavors are Banana and Strawberry and they’re sure to be the perfect summertime treat.

Like all Krystal Freezes, the two new flavors are made using premium syrups which contain only pure cane sugar, ensuring a refreshing and natural flavor.

And just in case you can’t decide which flavor you want to try first, don’t worry, Krystal suggests mixing the two and making a Strawberry-Banana Freeze.

In fact, that sounds so good we’re heading out to our nearest Krystal now to grab one so that we can sip it by the beach.

Seeing how temperatures are already soaring into the 90s here in Krystal Country, we know many of you are turning to icy beverages to help you cool down (us included).

And while we’ve warned you about what can happen while slurping down a Krystal Freeze or MilkQuake too quickly, we thought we’d share this story about brain freeze, which provides some recent research as well as a scientific look at the painful condition.
