The Class of 2009 Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame inductees aren’t just featured on millions of the legendary Krystal hamburger boxes. They’re also being featured in their hometown newspapers and on local TV news programs as word gets out about their distinction.

Most recently was new inductee John Wilson, who was featured in The Daily Times for his Krystal story submitted to Krystal’s Facebook page. The article tells the tale of Wilson’s fond memories of childhood trips to the Knoxville Zoo and his local Krystal restaurant where he ordered his favorite Krystal meal – the 4 Krystal Combo with two extra Krystals.

Wilson was also recognized by WBIR Channel 10 and WVLT Volunteer TV at his induction ceremony where the Krystal team greeted him with a life-size illustration of his very own Krystal Hamburger box, a Krystal plaque to be hung in the Alcoa restaurant for all of eternity and a complimentary meal for Wilson’s friends and family.

Hunger: the beast only Krystal can tame. At least that was the case for Krystal Lover John Wilson. Every year as a child, Wilson and his dad would visit the local zoo. Popping from the lions’ den to the penguins’ playpen always worked up a healthy appetite for the young men, and although many zoo visitors looked forward to the so-called concession-stand food at the park, the Wilson men knew of a much better meal to be had. Always saving the best for last, the two would visit their nearby Krystal as a post-zoo ritual, an activity Wilson looked forward to just as much as the zoo itself. And even today when Wilson makes his regular stops at Krystal, with every bite of those hot-off-the-grill burgers, Wilson not only remembers but can taste his childhood memories too. According to Wilson, “Krystal is more than just a great burger place, but a family tradition.”
