Happy National Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day!

Did you know that today is National Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day?

We had no idea the “holiday” even existed until we saw @amymarie1001 tweet about it yesterday on Twitter (follow us here). We had to look it up ourselves to believe it, and while we still haven’t come across an official site declaring it as a holiday, it is indeed listed as such on a number of sites (here, here and here).

Apparently it’s also National Alligator Wrestling Day too. Don’t think we’ll be celebrating that one.

But as Bundy over at Gather.com pointed out, it doesn’t get any easier than celebrating National Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day. Just sit back and enjoy your favorite coke product. For half of us at Krystalist, that’s Classic Coke. The other half, Diet Coke. Thankfully, Krystal offers both and has been serving Coca-Cola products ever since it opened its first restaurant in October 1932, on the corner of Seventh and Cherry Streets in downtown Chattanooga.

Do you say Coke, Soda or Pop?

The generic word people use for a “carbonated beverage with caffeine” varies region by region and even county by county in some places. For us, we say “coke,” even if it’s Sprite. Others say “soda” and many still say “pop.” Click the below map for a great breakdown by county of what people say. Read more about the great soda vs. pop debate here.
