The Christmas Tree lots are already claiming their street corners. The holiday-themed wrapping paper is out in the aisles at Kroger. The decorations are in full force at Target and Wal-Mart. And apparently Christmas tunes are already streaming across the airwaves at your local Krystal restaurant.

Yep, we were on Twitter (follow us here) just a second ago and saw a tweet from @rhinorun who noted, “It’s not even thanksgiving and it’s started. Sitting in Krystal and they’re playing Christmas music?”

“Too early?” we replied, while asking if he was appropriately enjoying an Eggnog MilkQuake at the time. Of course he was, and he was even kind enough to TwitPic his MilkQuake with his iPhone and share with us. That’s it at the right. Dashboard dining at its best.

Gotta love social media. Connecting people, instantly sharing and making us hungry, all at the same time.

The U.S. presidential election may be over, but the voting continues over at the Krystal Facebook page where people are casting votes for their favorite Krystal Valentine’s Day MilkQuake flavor. The poll results will help Krystal decide what MilkQuake you’ll see in your local Krystal restaurant just around the time President-Elect Barack Obama is sworn in.

In early voting, the Chocolate Dipped Strawberry MilkQuake is a clear favorite with more than half the votes (51.11%). In second is the Chocolate Truffle MilkQuake (31.11%) while the Red Hot Cinnamon MilkQuake and the Sweethearts MilkQuake are tied for third with 8.89% of the vote.

In related MilkQuake news, we sampled all three Holiday MilkQuakes today at the Krystal Test Kitchen in Chattanooga, and we have to say it’s hard to pick a favorite. The Pumpkin Pie MilkQuake still tastes exactly like a real pumpkin pie to us, mixed with thick, rich vanilla ice cream. And the Eggnog MilkQuake tastes even better than we recall last year. Must be the new, premium Monin eggnog flavoring Krystal is using.

Finally, we learned something new about the Mint Chocolate Cookie MilkQuake. When we first reported on it, we mentioned how it tastes just like the delicious Thin Mints we get every year. Well, Krystal doesn’t use the Girl Scouts variety but instead Keebler’s Fudge Shoppe Grasshoppers. What’s the difference? To us, impossible to tell, and according to Eric Zorn, who blogs over at the Chicago Tribune, there may be a reason why.

Explains Zorn:

One of the two main manufacturers of Thin Mint cookies is Little Brownie Bakers of Louisville, Ky. And Little Brownie Bakers is a wholly owned subsidiary of none other than Kellogg Co., which bakes Grasshoppers some 90 miles away in Florence, Ky.
