The South Sweeps ESPN’s Top 3 College Tailgating Scenes

Ole Miss comes in at number 2 on the list, with tailgating at The Grove describe a sublime experience.

Ole Miss comes in at number 2 on the list, with tailgating at The Grove describe as a "sublime" experience.

Jim Caple, a.k.a. The Road Warrior, of ESPN recently ranked the Best College Tailgating Scenes in the country, and topping the list are three colleges all located in the heart of Krystal Country – LSU (no. 1), Ole Miss (no. 2) and Tennessee (no. 3). Also making the list from the South was Auburn (no. 10).

So how did the Road Warrior whittle his list down to just ten with so many great tailgating scenes across the country? Well, some of the schools were selected based on scenic backdrops, such as Colorado (no. 9), others because of their atmosphere, like Army (no. 8), but one thing, and one thing alone, helped several schools make it onto the list, including the number one pick, and that’s food.

Yes, food is a tailgating differentiator that, as anyone who has ever tailgated knows, is just as important as team spirit and icy cold beverages.

But let’s say you’re not into hauling grills, smokers, various slabs of meat, cooking utensils, plates, condiments and more down to the stadium for tailgating purposes.  Say, perhaps, you want an easy, stress-free tailgating food option that still tastes great, will get you to the game on time and goes great with your favorite game day beverage.

It’s easy:  Krystal.

Think about it.  What could be better than a couple of Steamer Packs, some Chili Cheese Pups and Chili Cheese Fries on game day? Not only does it taste great, but it’s already conveniently packaged for easy, on-the-go, tailgating consumption.

So the next time you begin to prepare for the big game.  Put away the grill, tear up your grocery list and instead grab your cooler and head to Krystal.

Head over to the Road Warrior’s column for the complete list of the Top Ten Best College Tailgating Scenes in the country.

Eat Breakfast Everday (at Krystal)

Enjoy a 4-Carb Scrambler for breakfast on-the-go.

A recent study by the University of Massachusetts found that men who skipped breakfast are four and a half times more likely to have bulging bellies than those who start off their day with a morning meal. In fact, a British study also reports that breakfast size is inversely related to waist size — the larger the breakfast, the leaner the midsection.

Experts suggest consuming at least 250 calories within an hour of waking, but we know how busy mornings tend to be. Who has time to cook a meal before heading out to work? So instead, try stopping by your local Krystal where you can order up a 4-Carb Scrambler, which is perfect for eating on-the-go.

Or if you have a little extra time, come inside where you can order up a full-plate breakfast and catch up-to-the-minute news on one of our flat screen TVs. You can also bring in your laptop and jump online (for free) so you can get started with your very busy day of, you know, deleting junk emails and reading ESPN.com.

ESPN’S Mike Golic Goes Head to Head Against Competitive Eaters

Mike Golic of ESPN’s Mike and Mike in the Morning battled “Pretty Boy” Pete Davekos, Tim “Eater X” Janus and Crazy Legs Conti in a buffalo wing eating competition this morning live on-air. As we reported earlier, Golic had to compete against the eating pros after losing the 2008 NCAA bracket wager against co-host Mike Greenberg.

This morning’s three-minute competition was called “The Feast on the First”, and even though Golic held his own, he came in last with 15 wings. The rest of the results are below along with two videos. The first video is of the actual competition while the second is of the trophy presentation.

Much love to “Eater X” for rocking the Krystal beanie. We had no idea he’d be sporting his Krystal Square Off gear. Perhaps it’s his good luck hat? If so, it sure worked this morning.

MIKE AND MIKE IN THE MORNING’S “FEAST ON THE FIRST” RESULTS:

4th place – Mike Golic with 15 wings
3rd place – “Pretty Boy” Pete Davekos with 22 wings
2nd place – Crazy Legs Conti with 23 wings
1st place – Tim “Eater X” Janus with 31 wings

ESPN’s Mike Golic May Eat Krystals In Competitive Eating Challenge

Thanks to Eatfeats.com, we just learned that Mike Golic of ESPN’s Mike and Mike in the Morning will go head to head against competitive eaters live on-air, and Krystal hamburgers may be the food of choice. Apparently Golic lost the 2008 NCAA bracket wager against co-host Mike Greenberg, and as a result, Golic will have to compete against some of the world’s best competitive eaters. Click here for more history on their bracket wagers.

Yesterday, Krystal Square Off competitive eater Crazy Legs Conti was on the show and suggested Golic consume Krystal burgers during the challenge. Greenberg asked Crazy Legs to serve as a commentator for the event, and fellow competitive eaters Tim “Eater X ” Janus and Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas were named as some of the possible competitors.

Check out the video clip below of Crazy Legs on the show, and check back soon as we’ll post more information about Golic’s upcoming (possibly Krystal) competitive eating challenge.
