Hot Dog, Meat Hamburger

The Express Special: a hot dog on a hamburger.
The Express Special: a hot dog on a hamburger.

We saw this post over at Slashfood today and had to share. Apparently, the Brits have combined what many would argue are the best fast-food menu items and created the hot dog-hamburger.

Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like - a hot dog sliced up on a hamburger.

This hotburger isn’t exclusive to the U.K. Vera’s Burger Shack in Vancouver, B.C. serves something called up “The Frank”, which they describe as “double cheese, double fried onions, the patty & half a Vera Dog”.

Wow.

So now we’re curious (you see where this is going right?). What if you took a Krystal Pup, sliced it up and stacked it inside a Krystal burger? You could even step it up by adding a Chili-Cheese Pup to a Krystal burger. Sounds pretty delicious, huh? Just promise you’ll send photos if any of you decide to create a Krystal Pup-Burger, as we’ll want to share with the world.

Hot Dogs Better than Home Runs for some Baseball Fans

Forget the Cracker Jacks, kick off Opening Day with a Krystal Pup (or three).
Forget the Cracker Jacks, kick off Opening Day with a Krystal Pup (or three).

For baseball fans in fourteen cities across the nation, today is Opening Day, and at long last they’ll hear the two word’s they’ve been waiting more than 150 days for: “Play Ball”. But those aren’t the only two words that evoke excitement and keep fans eagerly anticipating the kick-off of America’s National Pastime. Nope, there are two more words that go hand-in-hand with the pageantry and patriotism of baseball’s most exciting day: “hot dog“. In fact, some believe the association between hot dogs and baseball may go back as far as 1893.

For many folks, their love affair with the hot dog began as a kid while enjoying their very first baseball game, and for some, their stadium dog brings about more bragging rights than the actual team itself.

So no matter what home team you are “root, root” rooting for, you can bet that hot dogs will be another home run for baseball fans (and stadiums) across America this year.

And for those of us not lucky enough to have seats at tonight’s home opener, you can recreate Opening Day festivities by stopping at your nearest Krystal and ordering up some Krystal Pups. The excitement level may not be as high in your living room as it is at the stadium, but the hot dogs will be just as tasty and your couch will be way more comfortable.
