The New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts will take the field in Miami on February 7th for Super Bowl XLIV. With the game still a few days away, we thought we’d tide you over with a few fun facts related to the 2010 Super Bowl game. Happy Reading!

  • The Super Bowl XLIV game will be televised in 30 languages to more than 185 countries world wide.
  • Total expected attendance at the Sun Life Stadium for Super Bowl XLIV is 75,000 people.
  • A total of 62 commercials will air on Super Bowl Sunday, each of which cost between $2.5-$3 million for a mere 30 second spot.
  • These nine highly anticipated movies will air trailers during Super Bowl XLIV: Alice in Wonderland, Wolfman, Robin Hood, Despicable Me, The Last Airbender, Shutter Island, Iron Man 2, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Toy Story 3.
  • The total weight of The Saints’ starting defensive line is about 1,167 pounds.
  • Here’s some irony… Peyton Manning’s dad, NFL quarterback Archie Manning, made his debut in 1971 for the New Orleans Saints.
  • Entertainment for Super Bowl XLIV includes: Queen Latifah’s rendition of “America The Beautiful,” Carrie Underwood singing the National Anthem and The Who at halftime.
  • The Who are the first band known for destroying their instruments at the end of a live show and were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990.
  • It’s estimated that 6 percent of Americans will call in sick or report to work late on the Monday after Super Bowl XLIV.
  • Saints running back Reggie Bush’s top speed in the 40-yard dash is 18.7 mph.

However, Catholic schools in Indianapolis will have the entire day off in honor of the Super Bowl XLIV.
  • In a related finding, New Orleans Parish Civil District Court Judge Michael Bagneris ordered a Feb. 1 jury trial delay in light of the New Orlean’s Saints historic trip to the 2010 Super Bowl. His statement read, “The court takes judicial notice that Saintsmania permeates the city of New Orleans…”
  • The most potato chips consumed on Super Bowl Sunday are said to be done by the states of New Mexico and Virginia.
  • The estimated cost to South Florida for hosting Super Bowl XLIV, including increased police presence, clean-up, etc. will total $8 million.
  • The estimated benefit to South Florida, as measured by additional revenue to hotels, restaurants, and other spending will total $353 million

Photo Spotlight: Krystal Fans Travel To Satisfy Krystal Craving

A hungry group all take a bite of their Krystal Burgers at once!

A hungry group of new and veteran Krystal Lovers all take a bite of their Krystal Burgers at once!

We think most Krystal Lovers would agree that when you get a Krystal craving, you want to satisfy it right then and there. And apparently this school of thought is no exception to Krystal Lover and Facebook Fan Valorie Spencer of the Palm Harbor, Fla. area.

On this fine Friday afternoon, Spencer was home with her kids and a few of their friends who had the day off from school, when they all decided it was time for Spencer to deliver on a long-time promise: a road trip to Krystal. With the nearest Krystal restaurant located 45 minutes away in Tampa, it was a rare treat for the group. According to Spencer, “Three of the boys had never eaten a Krystal before and in fact, two of them had only experienced White Castle (frozen) at my house once before. They were really excited about the trip to a genuine Krystal location.”

Spencer continued, “The kids now want to make the trip a regular thing.” And how could we blame them! The group consumed a total of 40 Krystal Burgers, an order of chili cheese fries and a number of MilkQuakes. They also left with an additional 24 Burgers – a full Steamer Pack – and stopped at a friends house to slide a few to a fellow friend who wasn’t able to make the trek. I guess you could say that Spencer, with the help of her daughter, is like the Santa Claus of Krystal.

For this dedication and loyalty to the Krystal brand, we want to say thank you and show our appreciation with a little feature here on Krystalist. To see photos of the Spencer family and friends enjoying their Krystal Burgers, see below. It looks like one young gentleman might even have a future in the art of Krystal Box Stacking.

Photo Spotlight: Krystal Facebook Fan And Pet Dog Gizmo Love Krystals

Just the flavorful smell of Krystal Burgers is enough to get Gizmo excited!

Gizmo tries to steal a bite of a tasty Krystal Burger

You’ve probably heard the phrase “everyone and their dog,” but in the case of Krystal Lovers across the South, it actually seems to be true – everyone and their dog loves the little, square, hot-off-the-grill Krystal Burgers. And, the proof is in the pictures.

Krystal Facebook fan Amanda McCarter Counts recently posted these photos on the Krystal Facebook wall to show how much she and her family dog, Gizmo, love Krystals. Now if only the Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame honored pets! Until then, we’re excited to feature Gizmo here as Krystal’s smallest yet biggest fan. And instead of an induction ceremony, maybe we can see about getting him a Krystal Burger treat.

If you have any fun Krystal photos, please send them our way via email to info@krystalist.com, by posting on Facebook or tweeting to @krystalist and we’ll feature them here on Krystalist.com.

Free Wireless Internet Offered at Krystal Since 2003

Krystal offers Free Wi-Fi Internet access to guests in nearly 400 Krystal locations across the South.

Did you know that Krystal first introduced Free Wi-Fi Internet access to guests in 2003 at its UT Knoxville location? Did you also know that by June 2004 Krystal had 50 plus “Krystal Hotspots” offering free Wi-Fi? And that not soon after, Krystal integrated free wireless internet in all its restaurants systemwide.

Why do we mention this you might ask? Well, now that certain airlines, hotels and even some of the “other guys” in the fast food industry have decided to get in the game, Krystal still prides itself on being one of the first to offer Free Wi-Fi to its guests; while even now these late comers are still either limiting access time or charging as much as $12 or more to surf the sky.

We’re proud to say that for the past four years, Krystal guests have enjoyed using the company’s Free Wi-Fi for everything including: impromptu business meetings, study sessions, checking email during a leisurely lunch, sharing a favorite Krystal meal with friends on Facebook, participating in Krystal contests by logging onto Krystal.com and more.

So, in light of all those who are just now catching on, we just wanted to take a minute to share a big thank you from The Krystal Team to all its guests who have stopped by a Krystal restaurant to grab a bite and take advantage of its Free Wi-Fi access. We hope you continue to enjoy using this service as much as you enjoy your little, square Krystal Burgers hot-off-the-grill.

Stay tuned for more innovative ideas from the folks at your favorite Southern quick-service eatery!

Krystal Country Transplants Find Way To Satisfy Krystal Cravings

Kris Underwood

When Krystal fans Kris Underwood and Angela Sims Quinty submitted their personal Krystal stories for the Hall of Fame, it was clear that they had more in common than their love for the brand. Both having been raised where eating at Krystal was a part of regular family outings, Underwood and Quinty developed a strong liking for the delicious, little, square burgers. And after moving away from their hometowns where Krystal locations were no longer available, both were left with the longing of their childhood Krystal memories.

Angela Sims Quinty

Unable to resist the long-distance call of his favorite eatery, Underwood soon made a tradition of getting his Krystal Burger fix by traveling 300 plus miles from his current residence in Huntington, Ind. all the way to Richmond, Ky. to satisfy his cravings. Unfortunately, Quinty didn’t have that luxury. However, one day as Qunity was out in the Houston area, the trademark, red-circle Krystal sign appeared like a beacon in the distance. As the shriek arose from her throat, Quinty repeatedly screamed, “It’s a Krystal! It’s a Krystal!” and high-tailed it to one of the first Krystal restaurants opened in the state of Texas.

To celebrate their die-hard love for the brand, Underwood and Quinty each earn a spot in the 2009 Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame. You are welcome to come out and celebrate at their individual induction ceremonies, both being held on Friday, Jan. 8. Underwood’s will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Krystal restaurant located at 440 Eastern Bypass in Richmond, Ky. Quinty will join friends and family at 7:30 p.m. at the Krystal restaurant located at 1623 FM 1960 Rd. W. in Houston, Texas.

Krystal Burger Picnic At Home Is Christmas Eve Family Tradition

Make Krystal a part of your family holiday traditions!

Make Krystal a part of your family holiday traditions!

As many of you might know, we read a variety of Krystal-related stories, quotes and tidbits that are posted on Facebook, Twitter and even your own personal blogs. And from time to time, we share those fun items here on Krystalist for all Krystal fans to enjoy. Below is one of those excerpts from the “Land of Loving” blog.

This post is one of those posts I write so that my kids will have a recap in 20 years. So, bear with me a moment as I recap the Loving family Christmas of 2009:

Christmas WIN:
Sending out Christmas cards.

Christmas FAIL:
Sending out Christmas cards on December 23rd.

Christmas WIN:
Keeping our Christmas Eve tradition alive. Per the usual, we had a sack of Krystal burgers in a picnic on the floor while watching cheesy Christmas movies. It’s why the girls call Krystal burgers “Christmas burgers.” And it is one of my favorite Christmas traditions.

I think we just found a new Christmas Eve tradition for ourselves – or we’ll be stealing one that is. Christmas Burgers are genius. Why didn’t we think of this before? With all the big turkey and ham dinners surrounding the holidays, Krystal Burgers are the perfect way to inject a little something different into the routine. The kids obviously love it, and there are no dishes for the adults to clean up afterward. Now that’s a Christmas WIN!

It’s too bad we have to wait another year. But until then, we’ll be here featuring more of your great Krystal moments, so be sure to keep on sharing.
