Spicy Southern Chik Basket With Fiesta Waffle Fries Heat Things Up This Winter

It’s definitely beginning to feel a lot like winter in the South right now with temperatures dipping below 40 degrees and the mercury expected to keep dropping the rest of the week. And while we’ll be breaking out the cold weather gear to keep warm, we’ll also be heading to our nearest Krystal restaurant to heat up our taste buds with the new Spicy Southern Chik Basket with Fiesta Waffle Fries.

Available starting today, the new combo is served in a basket that includes two Spicy Southern Chik sandwiches along with a generous helping of Fiesta Waffle Fries and a medium beverage. The complete meal is available for a suggested retail price of $4.39.

We had the chance to try the new Spicy Southern Chik sandwich in the Krystal Test Kitchen (watch our video below or click here to download as mv4 file), and let’s just say, it doesn’t get any better than this for Krystal Chik fans like us, especially since we’re particularly fond of the spicy variety.

Featuring the same classic hot sauce flavors of spicy cayenne peppers, tangy vinegar and other savory seasonings as the original Spicy Chik sandwich, the Spicy Southern Chik doesn’t disappoint in delivering the flavorful kick we like.

What makes this Chik different than anything Krystal has offered in the past is the Southern-style breading. The flour used gives it a homemade taste, just like mom would cook up in her kitchen, and it provides a lighter, crispier texture to the sandwich.

To top it all off, your Spicy Southern Chik Basket is loaded up with delicious Fiesta Waffle Fries that perfectly complement the spicy flavor profile of the Chik while offering a fresh potato crunch only waffle fries can deliver.

Give this new meal a try and let us know what you think. Feel free to even send a video or photos of you and your friends enjoying the combo and we’ll share it here at Krystalist.com.

Don Welch Visits Krystal Test Kitchen: Part 2

As we promised yesterday, we’re bringing you the second half of Don Welch’s visit to the Krystal Test Kitchen. Welch, the host of News Channel 9′s This N That program, meets up with Brad Wahl, the vice president of marketing for Krystal, to taste some of company’s most popular, brain freeze-inducing beverages.

Welch and Wahl (again, we’re laughing) first try out the most popular Krystal Freeze flavors. There’s also footage of the Krystal Freeze making process, in case you’re wondering how those icy concoctions are created.

Finally, Wahl reveals the new flavor additions to Krystal’s popular lineup of real ice cream MilkQuakes. We’re not going to tell you what those new flavors are, you’ll have to watch the video. However, we can say that we’ve tried them, and they’re beyond delicious.

Don Welch Visits Krystal Test Kitchen: Part 1

Don Welch of News Channel 9 in Krystal’s hometown of Chattanooga recently paid a visit to the Krystal Test Kitchen. Welch is the host of the station’s popular program This N That, and as part of a two-day series, he joined Brad Wahl, the vice president of marketing for Krystal, to taste a couple of new items that are currently being tested in various markets. During the visit, Welch and Wahl (sounds like the name of a weird ’70s sitcom) sink their teeth into a Krystal-sized patty melt, which is made with Black Angus chuck, and try out a new hot and spicy Scrambler that has yet to be named.

Watch part one of Welch’s visit below. We’ll post the second half tomorrow where Welch and Wahl (ha) taste the most popular Krystal Freeze flavors and reveal the new line of MilkQuakes for the summer.

P.S. Email us at info@krystalist.com if you have any name suggestions for that new Scrambler. You won’t win anything except bragging rights, and good luck explaining to your friends how you named a Krystal menu item. We’re sure they’ll believe you.
