Key Lime Pie And Triple Chocolate Dream MilkQuakes Now Available

Krystal's Key Lime Pie MilkQuake

Two new Krystal MilkQuake flavors are now available, and let me tell you, they’re so good they’ll make a tadpole slap a whale. Yeah, we just said that.

First up is the Key Lime Pie MilkQuake. Deliciously thick, creamy and tart, this MilkQuake taste just like someone poured a piece of Key Lime Pie into a cup, which makes sense considering it’s made using premium vanilla ice cream, gourmet key lime flavoring and real graham cracker crumbs.

The second flavor is the appropriately titled Triple Chocolate Dream. Made with chocolate ice cream, Oreo cookies and topped with chocolate whipped cream, this MilkQuake is the perfect indulgence for lovers of all things sweet and chocolate.

New Triple Chocolate MilkQuake

And just in case having these two new flavors to choose from isn’t enough, Krystal has decided to keep the Banana Pudding MilkQuake on the menu. Originally the shake was only available through the end of summer, but due to its popularity, it will now be available year-round.

So now that you’ve got more MilkQuake choices than you can shake a stick at, good luck deciding which flavor to try first.

9.) After Saturday, you and everyone in your family have a gift card for a free menu item.

8.) Krystal Chiks.

7.) New items on the menu like Mac ‘n Cheese Wedges, Krystal-sized toasted sandwiches, Smoothies and Hot ‘n Country Wings.

6.) You can surf the Web in your car (or the dining room) thanks to Krystal’s free Wi-Fi.

5.) We’ll be open after the late showing of The Dark Knight.

4.) Where else can you get a Banana Pudding MilkQuake?

The Banana Pudding MilkQuake will be available for the rest of the summer.

Word on the street from our corporate marketing friends at Krystal: the Banana Pudding MilkQuake is here to stay…well, through the summer at least.

The shake was originally going to be a limited time offer, set to expire in late July when two new flavors will be added to the line up; however, the drink has been so popular with Krystal Lovers, the company has decided to keep the Banana Pudding deliciousness on the menu for the rest of the summer.

This is the best news we’ve heard all day, as it’s the office favorite. Oh, and check back soon to learn the flavors of the two new MilkQuakes you’ll soon be able to order.

Please Drink Your MilkQuake Responsibly

Photo by Flickr user Alison Chains'.
Seeing how temperatures are already soaring into the 90s here in Krystal Country, we know many of you are turning to icy beverages to help you cool down (us included).

And while we’ve warned you about what can happen while slurping down a Krystal Freeze or MilkQuake too quickly, we thought we’d share this story about brain freeze, which provides some recent research as well as a scientific look at the painful condition.

Remember - please drink your MilkQuakes and Krystal Freezes responsibly.

Krystal’s MilkQuake Shakes Up The Competition

AJC.com names Krystal's MilkQuake as favorite fast-food shake.
AJC.com names Krystal's MilkQuake as favorite fast-food shake.

Elizabeth Lee
, food and drink writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reviewed Krystal’s Banana Pudding and Reese’s Peanut Butter MilkQuake. She then compared the drinks to Wendy’s new Frosty Shake and Chick-fil-A’s Coffee Caramel Milkshake.

How did it, um, shake out? We’ll just let Lee do the talking:

“Our favorite is Krystal’s MilkQuake, an ice-cream-based shake. The new, limited-time flavors are Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, which was the testers’ favorite, and Banana Pudding, a frothy concoction with bits of Nilla wafers blended in. (Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry are also available.)

There are some things you can’t fake, and a milkshake is one of them. When they’re made with real ice cream, they taste better. That’s why these stand out. Good-quality mix-ins also boost the appeal.”

And what about Wendy’s Frosty Shake? Well, Lee claims the shake “tasted harsh and artificial”.

As far as Chick-fil-A’s Coffee Caramel Milkshake, Lee compares the flavor to that of “Quik-Trip’s Frozen Cappuccino, creamy with a mild coffee flavor.” She goes on to say, “It’s pleasant enough at first, but the highly sweetened drink wears out its welcome after a few sips.”

So there you have it. We always knew Krystal’s MilkQuakes rocked, but thanks to Lee’s review, we think it’s safe to say the MilkQuake officially rules.

Krystal Kicking Off Summer In Springdale with Free Menu Tastings

Stop by the Springdale Krystal for Sample Saturdays

Live in Northwest Arkansas and love Krystal? If so, listen up. The company is kicking off its first summer in Springdale with a series of events called “Sample Saturdays”, which will give area residents a chance to taste (for free!) Krystal’s expansive menu options.

That’s right, we know it is hard not to order that famous Krystal burger each time you visit, so the company is giving you a chance to try out its other menu items, like the Krystal Chik (small, square chicken sandwich), the Krystal Pup (small, hot dog served plain or with chili and/or cheese) and the entire line of MilkQuakes (premium milkshakes made with real ice cream).

Not only that, Krystal will be unveiling its new line of premium, icy cold slush beverages called Krystal Freeze™, which will be available for the first time in Springdale beginning June 7. The Krystal Freeze is a deliciously cold treat that’s perfect for the summer, as the icy concoction is made with gourmet syrups that contain only pure cane sugar and natural fruit flavorings. You can learn all about the Krystal Freeze here. And don’t say we didn’t warn you about the inevitable sphenopalatineganglioneuralgia.

So here’s all the important information:

“Sample Saturdays” will take place between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Krystal located at 1503 S. Thompson on Saturday, June 7 and Saturday, June 21. (Also, check back as we’ll be adding another event in July.)

Mark your calendars Springdale, and we’ll see you there!

Don Welch Visits Krystal Test Kitchen: Part 2

As we promised yesterday, we’re bringing you the second half of Don Welch’s visit to the Krystal Test Kitchen. Welch, the host of News Channel 9’s This N That program, meets up with Brad Wahl, the vice president of marketing for Krystal, to taste some of company’s most popular, brain freeze-inducing beverages.

Welch and Wahl (again, we’re laughing) first try out the most popular Krystal Freeze flavors. There’s also footage of the Krystal Freeze making process, in case you’re wondering how those icy concoctions are created.

Finally, Wahl reveals the new flavor additions to Krystal’s popular lineup of real ice cream MilkQuakes. We’re not going to tell you what those new flavors are, you’ll have to watch the video. However, we can say that we’ve tried them, and they’re beyond delicious.
