The Krystal Chik Club Salad is an easy recipe perfect as an appetizer for game day!

The Krystal Chik Club Salad is an easy recipe perfect as an appetizer for game day!

By now you’ve seen the changes– the leaves are turning colors, the Halloween outfits are flying off the shelves and most importantly football season is in full swing.

And while it might be getting too cool in some areas to break out the grill this weekend, there’s no reason to abandon your tailgating festivities all together! Krystal values the importance of the pigskin as much as you do and wants to help you celebrate this football season in a fresh new way (and in the warmth of your own kitchen).

Check out these two new super simple and original Krystal recipes that anyone can whip up and serve at their next football party or tailgating event. In fact, they’re so easy and budget-friendly, you might just find yourself as the new designated host for the entire rest of the season. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Krystal Chik Club Salad

Ingredients:

6 Krystal Chik Club Sandwiches, without lettuce
One head of Lettuce (or bag of preferred green mix)
Salad Dressing of Choice (we suggest Ranch or Balsamic Vinaigrette)

Directions:

Put your chopped or torn lettuce into a large serving bowl. Cut each Chik Club sandwich into four pieces. This will help separate the chicken, cheese, tomatoes and bacon from the sandwich. Toss all the sandwich ingredients into bowl with lettuce and mix well. Serve with dressing. For larger gatherings, you can always double the recipe.

Krystal Six-Layer Dip

Ingredients:

Sackful of Krystals
1 cup Sour Cream
2 cups shredded cheese
1 can refried beans
1 large tomato, chopped
6 green onions, chopped

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Layer (in order from bottom to top): Refried beans, Krystal Burgers with one placed next to the other leaving no space in between, sour cream, shredded cheese. Pop in oven to warm for approx.  15-20 mins. Top mixture with tomatoes and green onions. Serve immediately.

Hints:

For thicker dip, use an 8″ x 8″ pan. For thinner dip, use 13″ x 9″ dish.
To ease the spreading of beans, spoon beans into a bowl and microwave for a short period of time. Use spatula to spread.

Miss Tennessee Stefanie Wittler Savors Win With Sackful of Krystals

Stefanie Wittler on set filming her Krystal commercial in 2007. We always say that nothing can stand in the way of a Krystal Lover’s craving for those hot-off-the-grill, little, square burgers. Granted, we’re partial, but the newly titled Miss Tennessee agrees. Raised and crowned in the founding state of Krystal, or as we like to call it “the heart of Krystal country,” Stefanie Wittler is a Krystal Lover through and through.

Of course, we’ve known for a couple years now that Wittler is a diehard Krystal fan from the Krystal story she submitted back in 2007, which landed her a starring role in her very own Krystal commercial. Now as the new Miss Tennessee, Wittler’s love for the brand has been made public again.

After reading a recent article posted on TheChattanoogan.com, we learned that during the training for the Miss Tennessee pageant, Wittler was well aware of the swimsuit portion of the pageant. However, she did not give up her love for Krystal burgers, never eliminating them from her diet throughout the entire process. So it came as no surprise that when Wittler finally won the Miss Tennessee pageant, she celebrated by rewarding herself in the best way possible — with a Sackful of Krystals. Now that’s what we call a true Southern celebration.

Here’s a big congratulations to Stefanie Wittler for winning the Miss Tennessee pageant and a big thanks for being such a loyal Krystal fan. With dedication like that, she might just find herself in the spotlight once again, but this time for the Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame.

Krystal Countdown to Valentine’s Day Continues with Love Story No. 2

Nothing like a Krystal Sackful to share for dinner on a first date! How do you know when you’ve got a keeper? First dates are usually too soon to tell, but Gina Nelson of Macon, Ga. knew exactly how to win the keys to her husband Paul’s heart. They had it all planned out – tickets to the rodeo with friends and dinner afterwards, but all the restaurants were closed except Krystal. Paul didn’t have to ask her twice. Turns out she’s been a Krystal Lover all her life.

“I knew Gina was a keeper when her eyes lit up like Krystal’s ‘hot-off-the-grill’ neon sign,” said Paul.

The couple ordered a Sackful and took them back to the house to enjoy with friends. Still today, Krystal remains a part of their anniversary tradition.

As one of Krystal’s Top Lovers Love Stories of 2009, Paul and Gina will share an intimate candlelit dinner this Valentine’s Day at their favorite Krystal restaurant with a $100 gift card. For that value, we imagine they will share many more Krystal dinners to come. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Stay tuned for Krystal Lovers love story number three tomorrow.

Krystal Serves As Inspiration To Other Fast Food Companies

The Burger King is caught in the act, scoping out Krystal's menu for inspiration. Photo by Flickr user czyjs. If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it twice – imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and after seeing this article we’re flattered…again.

It appears as though a fast food company (ahem, Burger King we’re looking at you) is “rolling out what it claims to be the first burger made for sharing”. Called the 6 Pack, the meal consists of one big Aberdeen Angus patty inside six rolls, stuck together to allow consumers to tear off portions.

Perhaps the Burger King got this idea after his recent visit to Krystal? We’re pretty sure he ordered a Sackful, which Krystal created in 1932 for the sole purpose of sharing with family and friends. Or, could it have been a large order of Krystal Pups or the Mix ‘n Match Combo that inspired the King’s new concept? All we know is Krystal has been in the business of creating food to share for over 75 years now, so we’re actually a little surprised it has taken another company this long.

Now the 6 Pack is only being rolled out in the UK, Spain and Germany, so those of us in the U.S. won’t get a look at the new burger. That’s alright though, if you’re in the mood for some food sharing, just head on over to Krystal — not only will you be able to choose between burgers, Chiks and Pups to share, but you won’t have to bother with tearing them apart like you do with BK’s 6 Pack.

And you know, we shouldn’t be surprised by this latest creation of the Burger King’s. This isn’t the first time he’s used Krystal as a source of inspiration. Take a gander at this. Yeah, it’s Burger King’s FryPod, the container he “invented” to make enjoying fries on-the-go easy and convenient. You know, one that fits perfectly inside your car’s cup holder. Sound familiar? Yeah, it’s just like the fry container Krystal has been using for years and years. Curious, don’t you think? What’s next King? Breakfast menu items stacked in a bowl so that you can mix them together or enjoy layer by layer? Don’t even think about it.
