The Class of 2008 Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame inductees aren’t just featured on millions of the legendary Krystal hamburger boxes. They’re also being featured in their hometown newspapers and on local TV news programs as word gets out about their distinction.

Most recently was new inductee Angel Figueroa, whose interview with the San Antonio Express-News appeared in today’s newspaper. Titled “A Conversation with Angel Figeuroa,” the article sheds some new light on the father of three, like why he prefers to dine-in at the new Krystal restaurant in Live Oak and what he does when he’s not eating Krystal Steamer Packs at his favorite restaurant.

A new Krystal location opened its doors this morning in San Antonio.

The brand new, state-of-the-art restaurant is located at 10531 Culebra Rd. and is serving up Krystal’s signature menu favorites as well as a number of exciting new menu options, including RockSlides®, a line of ice cream-based beverages that include mix-ins such as M&Ms, Butterfinger and Snickers, and Krystal Toaster Sandwiches®, a variety of Krystal-sized sandwiches served on toasted bread including Philly Cheesesteak, Turkey Club, Grilled Cheese, BLT and Grilled Bacon and Cheese.

The Culebra Rd. restaurant joins the two existing Krystal locations at 6446 NW Loop 410 and 7953 Pat Booker Rd.

In celebration of the new restaurant’s opening, the company will host a free menu tasting event on November 1 at all area Krystal locations, giving local residents the chance to taste for free many of the company’s brand new menu items.

The Krystal locations in San Antonio will host their second “Sample Saturday” event tomorrow, giving local residents a chance to taste for free the restaurant’s expansive menu options.

Anyone stopping by the Krystal restaurants located at 6446 NW Loop 410 or 7953 Pat Booker Road between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. will have the opportunity to try out some of the restaurant’s new items such as:

• Krystal Toaster Sandwiches® – a variety of Krystal-sized sandwiches served on toasted bread including Philly Cheesesteak, Turkey Club, Grilled Cheese, BLT and Grilled Bacon and Cheese.

• Hot ‘N Country Wings® – chicken wings covered in a deliciously crispy and spicy breading.

• Krystal Smoothies® – a line up of all-natural, all-fruit smoothie beverages.

• Mac ‘N Cheese Wedges® – small, tasty wedges of fried mac ‘n cheese bites.

• RockSlides® – a line of ice cream-based beverages that include mix-ins such as M&Ms, Butterfinger and Snickers.

• MilkQuakes™ – Krystal’s lineup of premium milkshakes made with real ice cream. Flavors include Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry, and for a limited time Pumpkin Pie.

In celebration of Krystal’s recent expansion in San Antonio, including the opening of the new Drive-In location this past July and the opening of a brand-new restaurant this later this month, the company is hosting a series of free sampling events for local residents.

The first of the events will take place tomorrow at the Krystal restaurants located at 6446 NW Loop 410 and 7953 Pat Booker Road between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

At both locations, area residents stopping by will have the chance to taste for free a variety of Krystal’s most popular menu items including:

Just a friendly reminder for all you San Antonians that Krystal will be giving away $5,000 in free gift cards tomorrow at its soon-to-open drive-in location on Pat Booker Rd.

The free gift cards will be good for various menu items and combo meals including Krystal favorites like Krystal Chiks®, Krystal Pups®, Krystal Sunrisers® and MilkQuakes®.

Gift cards for brand new menu items will also be distributed, giving San Antonians the chance to taste new items before anyone else in the state.  These will include Krystal-sized toasted sandwiches, hot and spicy chicken wings and mac ‘n cheese wedges.

Krystal Carhops will begin distributing the free gift cards at noon.

We’ve already heard rumors of folks camping out to ensure they get their hands on one of the 500 free gift cards, so we’d suggest getting in line early.

With the Krystal Drive-In set to open next month in San Antonio, there’s a lot of excitement and buzz swirling around the new location.

The San Antonio Business Journal recently ran a piece about the new restaurant, and now the San Antonio Express-New has written a story.

And in case you’re completely lost and have no idea what we’re talking about (if so, you’d better have a good excuse), here’s the scoop:

San Antonio will soon be home to the first Krystal Drive-In in Texas. Not just your typical drive-in, the new Krystal Drive-In will feature traditional carhop service as well as digital menu boards with integrated TVs and free, in-your-vehicle, Wi-Fi.

In addition, this ultimate Krystal will feature an expanded menu that will include new delicious treats such as Krystal-sized toasted sandwiches, fruit smoothies and ice cream sundaes.
