Happy National Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day!

We celebrated National Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day with a nice, cold Coke and some Spicy Southern Chiks.

Did you know that today is National Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day?

We had no idea the “holiday” even existed until we saw @amymarie1001 tweet about it yesterday on Twitter (follow us here). We had to look it up ourselves to believe it, and while we still haven’t come across an official site declaring it as a holiday, it is indeed listed as such on a number of sites (here, here and here).

Apparently it’s also National Alligator Wrestling Day too. Don’t think we’ll be celebrating that one.

But as Bundy over at Gather.com pointed out, it doesn’t get any easier than celebrating National Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day. Just sit back and enjoy your favorite coke product. For half of us at Krystalist, that’s Classic Coke. The other half, Diet Coke. Thankfully, Krystal offers both and has been serving Coca-Cola products ever since it opened its first restaurant in October 1932, on the corner of Seventh and Cherry Streets in downtown Chattanooga.

Do you say Coke, Soda or Pop?

The generic word people use for a “carbonated beverage with caffeine” varies region by region and even county by county in some places. For us, we say “coke,” even if it’s Sprite. Others say “soda” and many still say “pop.” Click the below map for a great breakdown by county of what people say. Read more about the great soda vs. pop debate here.

We love his headline for the photo: “It’s glorious.”

It’s Beginning To Sound A Lot Like Christmas At Krystal

Twitter user rhinorun shot this TwitPic of his Eggnog MilkQuake shortly after hearing Christmas music at his local Krystal.
The Christmas Tree lots are already claiming their street corners. The holiday-themed wrapping paper is out in the aisles at Kroger. The decorations are in full force at Target and Wal-Mart. And apparently Christmas tunes are already streaming across the airwaves at your local Krystal restaurant.

Yep, we were on Twitter (follow us here) just a second ago and saw a tweet from @rhinorun who noted, “It’s not even thanksgiving and it’s started. Sitting in Krystal and they’re playing Christmas music?”

“Too early?” we replied, while asking if he was appropriately enjoying an Eggnog MilkQuake at the time. Of course he was, and he was even kind enough to TwitPic his MilkQuake with his iPhone and share with us. That’s it at the right. Dashboard dining at its best.

Gotta love social media. Connecting people, instantly sharing and making us hungry, all at the same time.

Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of the Krystal Burger

During our morning search for all things Krystal, we came across a couple of Twitter posts referencing the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull movie - except Crystal was spelled Krystal. And that made us chuckle. Then we saw this blog post, which we stole our title from (we can’t be clever all the time), and well, that made us laugh (that, or the fact that it’s the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. Either way, we’re giddy).

Then we started thinking about what a great parody Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Krystal Burger could be. Indiana Jones must rescue the sacred Krystal hamburger from the hands of the evil doers, as the Krystal holds the secret to all knowledge and grants its owner world domination. Or something like that. Call us Spielberg, we’ll work out the details.

Here’s the trailer for the real movie, which is out now. Looks pretty good, except pretend Harrison Ford is searching for a Krystal burger and that makes it a thousand times better.
